Shelly’s Barber Shop is preparing to relocate from Arlington to Lakeland Town Square, bringing a longtime local barbershop tradition to one of Lakeland’s growing commercial developments.
Owner Shelly Pilkington, who purchased the former Oliver’s Barber Shop from longtime owner George Oliver in 2021, continuing Mr. Oliver’s business’s legacy at Arlington’s Depot Square. Previously located at 6245 Chester Street, the shop has built a very loyal following by offering traditional haircuts, beard trims, shaves and personalized service.
News of the planned move has drawn support from customers and community members, with a Facebook post recognizing the shop’s years in Arlington and wishing Pilkington success in its next chapter.
The move adds to the continued growth of Lakeland Town Square, which is expanding its mix of restaurants, retail businesses and professional services. Other businesses preparing to open at the development include Town Square Nutrition and Back Nine Golf.
An official opening date for Shelly’s Barber Shop at its new Lakeland location has not yet been announced but work is underway at their new location.
