Cochina will be taking the place of Blossom Asian Cuisine Buffet which has been closed.

Lakeland is set to welcome another Mexican restaurant along the U.S. 64 commercial corridor, with Cocina Mexicana Bar & Grill planning a new location in the city.

The restaurant filed for a certificate of occupancy with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development on Sept. 8 for a restaurant and bar at 9020 U.S. 64.

The new location will occupy the space formerly home to Blossom Asian Cuisine Buffet, which has since closed. The restaurant is located within the shopping center anchored by Sprouts Farmers Market and Harbor Freight.

Cocina Mexicana already operates five locations throughout the Memphis area. The restaurant offers a broad menu of Mexican favorites, including fajitas, tacos, burritos, enchiladas and other traditional dishes.

The Lakeland location adds another restaurant to a U.S. 64 corridor that has continued to see changes in both its retail and dining offerings.

An opening date for the new Cocina Mexicana location has not yet been announced.
