One of Lakeland’s most anticipated community events will return to Lakeland Preparatory School later this month as families gather to celebrate cultures and traditions from around the world.
International Family Night is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Lakeland Prep cafeteria and courtyard. The event is free and open to the public.
The annual celebration brings together families from throughout Lakeland and highlights the diverse cultures and backgrounds represented in the community. Guests can enjoy musical performances, international food, traditional clothing, crafts and displays showcasing countries and cultures from around the world.
This year’s featured countries and cultures include Venezuela, Colombia, Japan, China, Mexico and Germany, among others. The event gives families an opportunity to experience different traditions and learn about cultures from around the globe without leaving Lakeland.
Organizers say the evening is about more than showcasing different countries. International Family Night provides an opportunity for neighbors to connect, share their heritage and celebrate the diversity that contributes to the character of the Lakeland community.
Families are also invited to take part by hosting a country table. Participants may represent their country of origin, family heritage or simply a country and culture they find interesting.
Those interested in hosting a table must register by September 15 using the QR code or sign-up information included on the event flyer.
With its combination of food, music, cultural displays and community connections, International Family Night offers Lakeland families an opportunity to learn from one another and celebrate the many cultures that call the community home.
