Lakeland Preparatory School’s Theatre Company has announced the cast, crew and student design team for its upcoming production of The Diviners, set to run Nov. 5–8, 2026.

Written by Jim Leonard Jr., The Diviners is set in a small Indiana town during the Great Depression. The play follows Buddy Layman, a troubled young man with an extraordinary ability to find water, and his unlikely friendship with C.C. Showers, a former preacher struggling with his faith.

As the two form a bond, the story explores themes of redemption, community, tragedy and hope, creating a dramatic production that examines the impact individuals can have on one another and the communities around them.

Brian Williams will portray Buddy Layman, while Alexander Garcia Guerrero will take on the role of C.C. Showers. The cast also includes Cora Coleman, Chase Foldenauer, Avery Green, Elaina Wright, Zoe Welch, Jose Gatica, Lyla Clark, Ethan Leetom and Kayden Gonzalez.

Bella Sara and Aaden Nichols will serve as swings for the production.

The production will also feature extensive student involvement behind the scenes. Members of the LPS Theatre Company will be responsible for stage management, lighting, sound, props, costumes, makeup, video and other production elements.

Student designers and directors will also assume creative leadership roles in areas including set, costume, sound, and hair and makeup design.

The production reflects the theatre company’s ongoing commitment to providing students with hands-on experience across all aspects of theatrical production, both onstage and behind the curtain.

The Diviners will be performed Nov. 5–8 at Lakeland Preparatory School.
